Installing Queen Gil Tape

 
 

Mechanical Tape Installation by tractor:

  • Surface laying:
    • Use a special Shank (Tape installation tool), see Fig. a, to avoid Tape twisting and install Tape labyrinth facing up.
  • Burying Tape:
    • Use a special Twisted Shank, see Fig. b, to install the Tape outlets up, and to reduce the risk of clogging.
  • Shank installation: the Shank and the Tape Spool can be mounted on the tool bar at the rear of the tractor, or ahead of the operator, where he can watch them.

A correct Tape installation, either on the ground or under ground, will insure
a perfect water distribution to your crops and allow high yield.

Tape Installation
  • Secure the ends: tie or hold the end of the Queen Gil Tape at the start of each row. Keep some extra length of Tape for the connection to the supply line.
  • Do not pass over the burried Tape, to avoid compacting the soil and blocking the water passage.
  • Do not twist the Tape.
  • Maximum tractor speed: 8km/h; tractor speed can be as uniform as possible.
  • Level the furrows left by the shanks after tractor passage.
  • Keep the shanks clean, earth can block the Tape passage through the shank.
  • Junction between Tape rolls: near the end of the roll, cut the Tape and replace the empty spool with a new one and connect the 2 Tape with a Queen Gil Connector (R15, T2 or M11, according to the Tape size).
  • When arriving at the end of the field cut the Tape, keep enough length for closing the line (or to install an Automatic End Flush Valve).
